A charity event took place in Laval, Quebec, on May 29, 2026, at the Embassy Plaza, organized by the young singer and Ambassador for Peace Christa Maria Abou Akl<\/b> to raise funds for the Lebanese Red Cross amid Lebanon’s ongoing humanitarian crisis. The event brought together Canadian political leaders from three levels of government, community and humanitarian representatives from more than eleven organizations, and members of the Lebanese diaspora, as well as representatives of the Universal Peace Federation and the Canadian Red Cross.<\/p>\n
Ghassan Brax, <\/b><\/span>Senior Manager, Philanthropy, for the Canadian Red Cross<\/span>, <\/b><\/span>highlighted the severe challenges facing Lebanon, including displacement, healthcare needs, and the essential work of the Lebanese Red Cross. Representatives from both the Canadian and Lebanese Red Cross emphasized the importance of international solidarity and praised Christa Maria’s leadership and humanitarian commitment despite her young age.<\/p>\n Speaking on behalf of the Universal Peace Federation, Robert Duffy<\/b>, Secretary-General, UPF Canada, commended the initiative as an example of how young people can translate ideals of peace into practical humanitarian action. Christa Maria<\/b> herself delivered an emotional appeal for compassion toward displaced Lebanese families, stressing that peace is expressed through concrete acts of service, generosity, and concern for others.<\/p>\n The evening combined musical performances with fundraising activities and ultimately sought to mobilize support for vulnerable families in Lebanon and for the humanitarian workers of the Lebanese Red Cross. Organizers, including journalist Jacqueline Jaber<\/b>, reported raising more than $10,000, with hopes of surpassing $15,000 through additional donations.
