A Lions Club project initiated by Antoine Nahas, SMA/GAT Area Leader, Quebec—Canada CA2/C
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. in Saint-Georges (Quebec, Canada), about a hundred people gathered at the foot of a sculpture still covered by a veil—the Eternal Flame of Peace. Among them were mostly Lions Club members, recognizable by their jackets bearing the club’s famous logo, as well as numerous dignitaries.
The following speakers took the stage to reaffirm the Lions’ commitment to serving humanity—starting with their families, their communities, and beyond—with the vision of helping to build a peaceful world: Ms. Manon Bougie, mayor of St-Georges; Mr. Samuel Poulin, Minister of Municipal Affairs; Mr. Jason Groleau, Member of Parliament for Beauce; Ms. Patty Hill, past international president; and Mr. Mark S. Lyon, international president of Lions Clubs International. Mr. Lyon proudly received the Peace Ambassador certificate from Mr. Franco Famularo, President of UPF Canada, and in return presented Mr. Famularo with a plaque featuring a drawing by a 13-year-old Chinese girl who won first prize in the Lions Club’s 2025 International Peace Drawing Contest.
Next came the unveiling of the Eternal Flame of Peace, a globe set at the center of an ethereal structure that culminates in a flame that will burn forever thanks to an ingenious system designed by its creator, Mr. Antoine Nahas.
May the universal values of peace shared by the Lions and the Universal Peace Federation shine in Saint-Georges and throughout the world.
